I've always been inspired by dance. Dancers have such an understanding of their bodies and the ability to create elegant shapes and movements. When I look back at the work of photographers like Irving Penn and Herb Ritts, I see so many examples of this. The elegance and style of the shots, to me, is sometimes lost in today's culture. These photographers, like so many others, understood the technique of building the shots and collaborating with the subject to create the right image.
This is the approach I took with my recent shoot with Dancer Andrew Pearson. Talking through shots. Looking at form and selecting images that spoke to both of out creative aesthetics.
