I am frequently asked by my male model and headshot clients if they should shave prior to their session. With facial hair being a huge trend right now, I encourage them to do both. Why not show a little more versatility and range in your look. At the end of the day, your headshots and portfolio are all about you showing who you are and your potential for future bookings. So with that said, don't limit yourself!
One of our recent DC actor headshot clients is a great examples of how we can get two very different looks in one session. Check out Thomas below, with and without facial hair.
Around the holidays we all try to get a good picture of the whole family, but someone is always missing. Well this year take advantage of the self-timer on the camera. Put the camera on a flat surface:
- top of the television
- top of your car
- whatever surface you have around you (get creative if you have to)
If you have one of those dysfunctional families, don't worry. If everyone is not looking at the camera, sometimes that's just what you are going to get. Even as a professional it can be hard to get a whole group of people on the same page. As we said in the Marine Corps, there is always one!
Enjoy your holiday season and take lots of pictures.
